From Timber Town to Home Lots
Hydroseeding in Pearl River often starts on land that was once timber. The community was first known as Halloo, a name said to come from loggers calling to each other as they worked along the nearby Pearl River. Founded in 1859, it grew up around logging and the railroads that carried the timber out.
Cutover ground
Land that was logged and later built on can have uneven surfaces, buried stumps and thin topsoil. Before a new lawn, we check for soft spots and debris, grade the lot and add topsoil where needed. That prep is what decides whether a hydroseed lawn grows thick or patchy.
A railroad junction
Early Halloo was a small railroad town at the junction of the Northeastern and the East Louisiana Railroads, and a station was built in 1886. Ditch banks along roads and old rail lines benefit from seed under erosion control blankets.
A small, quiet town
Pearl River covers 3.6 square miles, of which about 0.1 is water. Most projects here are single homes, small additions and new builds on the edges of town. Sediment control during construction keeps runoff out of local ditches and creeks that feed toward the river.

Pearl River Questions
I keep finding old stumps in my yard. Should I remove them before seeding?
Shallow stumps and roots should come out or be ground down. They cause dips as they rot.
Can you seed a ditch along my property?
Yes. A blanket over the seed keeps it in place when water runs.
Is hydroseed good for a big rural lot?
It is one of the most cost-effective ways to cover a large area with grass.
Do you also work in Slidell?
Yes, along with the rest of eastern St. Tammany.
